Course Requirements
Experienced Operators
Candidates should already be competent and experienced in operating a telehandler before attending this course.
The course is designed to develop the additional skills required for suspended-load operations, rather than teaching basic telehandler operation.
Test-Only Candidates
You should already have practical experience using a telehandler to:
- Configure the machine for suspended loads
- Use lifting attachments
- Interpret suspended-load capacity information
- Pick up and control suspended loads
- Travel with suspended loads
- Work with a Slinger Signaller
- Place loads accurately and safely
Candidates should be capable of completing the required assessment without additional training.
Slinger Signaller Requirements
Suspended loads should normally be attached and controlled by a suitably trained and competent Slinger Signaller.
Where the telehandler operator is also expected to sling or attach the load themselves, they should have the appropriate training and competence to carry out that role.

Candidates requiring a CPCS card or NPORS card displaying the CSCS logo will need to meet the relevant health and safety requirements.
